Limericks?...ish! Now available in Hardback and E-book Formats

Updated: Oct 14, 2023

Having dusted off this old publication, that was little more than a short booklet, I have revised and expanded it, and am proud to announce, its re-launch after 27 years in obscurity!

Learmerickish is my first adult only publication and worlds apart from the type of books you may have come to expect from me. For those of you who never discovered or even heard of this publication back in 1996, and are wondering what to expect, I will tell you it contains personal observations, a few home truths and a degree of satirical, social and historical commentary on numerous topics, all neatly wrapped up in what I hope you will find are short, punchy limericks. I have illustrated each piece myself in pencil and Indian ink as were Edward Lear's original works, though my drawing style differs greatly and may possibly be considered naïve or even child-like. Though this may be the case, I feel I have illustarted in a fashion which only serves to add an additional dimension and perspective to my writing, and would love to hear your thoughts on this matter!

Whilst aimed at an adult market, for it contains some risqué images, a fair degree of smut, insinuation and dark humour, Learmerickish predominately relies on double entendres rather than profanities to provide colourful reading entertainment. Nevertheless, if you are easily offended, this book is probably not for you.

I hope my contemporary spin on the Master of the Limericks work does him tribute and that my offerings, such as they are, will be fun to peruse, be thought provoking, raise a chuckle and inspire others seek out Edward Lear’s unique style of writing.

Finally, I give a big thank you to Sarah Tuk for her stylish cover design, which quietly pays homage to the sleeve gracing The Complete Nonsense of Edward Lear,1975 edition. that was published by Faber and Faber.
